Reza's notes:
Khoy is a small city located in the north-west corner of Iran, populated by mainly Iranians of Azerbaijani and Kurdish lineage. The rugs woven here are similar in style to those of Tabriz, with rich highland wool piled tied upon a cotton foundation. This antique Khoy rug has a subtly stunning patina caused by decades of oxidation that have gradually muted the tones of the natural dyes used in the rug. The colours have mellowed to a beautiful hue that would enhance any home. The pattern contains a central medallion surrounded by Shah Abassi motifs in a floral arrangement and peaks the interest with tropical birds, prancing deer and Persian Leopards ready to pounce to create a pseudo tree-of-life and hunting scene pattern. A perfect piece that will, with care, be a treasured family heirloom for decades to come.
