The Qashqai are a tribal confederation, who share similar dialects and heritage. Descendants of the Turkmen and Ersari tribes, many are pastoral nomads who roam depending on the season moving from the Isfahan province to south of Shiraz. This convergence of people and cultures lends itself to some excellent and unique designs.
Founded on either cotton or wool the Qashqai rugs are woven with fine, soft, yet hard-wearing wool. The sizes available vary however most are medium sized; many runners are crafted by the Qashqai people. The colour of a good Qashqai rug should be madder red, indigo blue, and/or the classic gold/yellow hue. Qashqai are beautiful tribal rugs and are extremely popular in the west.
